Our idea has always been simple: to offer more than just a place to stay.

Ánimo Perro was born from something very simple: our desire to come to Sayulita and truly rest.
We love going out, enjoying the energy of the town, and making the most of every moment… but we also believe that a good night’s sleep is an essential part of the experience. After years of visiting Sayulita and falling in love with its spirit and surf culture, we decided to create a space that reflects all of it.
That’s how Ánimo Perro came to life; a place inspired by some of Sayulita’s most iconic surfers. Each room is named after one of our favorite surfers and features an image that captures their essence and personality.
But the name goes even deeper. Among surfers, it’s common to hear the phrase “¡ÁNIMO PERRO!” shouted as a way to cheer each other on and celebrate the moment. That energy, authentic, vibrant, and full of life, is what inspired us to name this project we’re so excited to share with everyone who visits Sayulita.
As a final touch, the image that represents this space is our dog Martín, a heeler who has filled our lives with love for many years and has been part of this story from the very beginning.
ROOTED IN COMMUNITY
This space began thanks to a close friend who built this small building and, once it was finished, invited us to bring it to life. With excitement and intention, we began creating what is now Ánimo Perro.
From the very beginning, we wanted it to be a project rooted in authenticity and community. We invited surfers to paint the rooms, got involved in every detail, often doing things ourselves, and explored local furniture shops until we found the perfect pieces that reflected our vision.
We’ve always been clear about one thing: we wanted to offer the highest level of quality and comfort. That’s why we carefully selected our mattresses, pillows, and linens, trusting Smart Bamboo to ensure a truly restful experience.
THE SPIRIT OF SAYULITA
Surf is an essential part of Sayulita’s essence, and one of the most incredible feelings you can experience here is stepping into the ocean with your board.
The surfers who inspire our rooms don’t just give them their names, they are also a living part of this community. They represent Sayulita every time they compete, carrying its energy, passion, and good vibes wherever they go.
For us, supporting them is fundamental. Some of them offer surf lessons and are highly skilled, providing safe, fun, and authentic experiences. Others are fully dedicated to competition, proudly representing this place we love so much.
More than just a sport, surf here is a way of life.
